The Fortune plums are a variety of Japanese plums. It’s a high quality fruit of red skin and yellow flesh with not so strong flavour. This variety of plums first real appearance was in the late 90’s in the United States. The Fortune plums grow very well in temperate climates, but need more cold temperatures that other plums variety. It matures around mid-July and flourishes in the first days of spring. It requires clayey and deep soils like the ones of the Region of Murcia to grow in the most perfect conditions.
Big size. Fortune plums have dark red skin, while their pulp is light orange yellow. Plum of juicy pulp, little fibrous and firm texture, with sweet flavor.
The Fortune plum is perfect to be eaten fresh in desserts or in salads, but can also be perfect to give a special touch to your oven cooked meats and fishes.
The Fortune plum as an anticancer agent: various studies proved that besides the antioxidants this fruit contains, it also gives a series of beneficial bacteria in the intestine which help prevent the Colon Cancer
